“Soothe your soul in the sea and your mind in the mountains”

Elemental Immersion offers a range of opportunities for you to ‘immerse yourself in the elements’ and harness the power of nature and cold water to boost your well being.

Natural, empowering wellness.

Our ethos and aims

Run by fully a trained cold/blue water therapist, Elemental Immersion is designed specifically to support people who would like to try nature-based and cold water therapies but have never had the confidence to do so. Our ethos is non-profit so we can, at minimal cost, support individuals and communities who have not had access this type of resource until now.

We also aim to provide a Social Prescribing Pathway for people with long term medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, mental health, cancer and multiple sclerosis, who would like to try a wider and complimentary approach to support the medical management of their health and wellbeing.

Background and Philosophy

Who am I?

I started life as a physiotherapist, going on to study an MSc in Chronic Pain Management. Having worked in an NHS chronic low back pain service for a number of years I then went on to teach the next generation of physiotherapists at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen for 16 years.

Managing people with chronic pain, poor mental health and long term conditions has never been straightforward and sadly, people are frequently left feeling abandoned and unsupported by a traditional medical approach. During my time in practice and education, I came to understand the importance of a few key things: the value of empowerment, education and acceptance; the significant influence of our whole body systems on health and wellbeing - immune system, gut health, stress/cortisol, mental health. Achieving ‘wellness’ goes far beyond just treating the physical symptoms. It is therefore of great value to consider more holistic forms of management as a compliment to a medical approach to wellness.

I am now trained as a cold water and blue water therapist and want to utilise these alongside my medical knowledge, to offer a ‘NEW” approach to supporting people with long term conditions - Natural Empowering Wellness.

The Elements

The 4 main elements are Earth, Water, Air/Wind and Fire. The 5th element is Space. Each element offers powerful symbolism and potent metaphors to connect and resonate with.

Earth - grounding and solidity

Water - emotion, flow, cleansing, sustenance

Air/Wind - breath, communication, intellect, oxygen

Fire - energy, transformation, passion, light, the Sun

Space - potential, freedom, release.

Elemental immersion integrates the sensory and environmental properties of the elements to promote physical, mental and emotional well-being. This harnesses what is known as the ‘Biophilia Hypothesis’ - our innate connection with nature. I invite you to reconnect with the healing power of the elements, nature and yourself to offer an empowered and holistic approach to managing your wellness and overall health.
